Write to support@maclatch.com. Include your device model, iOS version, the route you use (local network, Tailscale or SSH), and what the app said. Please never send passwords or keys.
Getting connected
- What does my Mac need?
- Turn on Screen Sharing in System Settings, General, Sharing, and choose which accounts may use it. Apple's guide walks through it. Nothing else is installed on the Mac.
- Which route should I use?
- At home, the local network is simplest: MacLatch finds nearby Macs and asks you to allow each one. Away from home, use your Tailscale address or MagicDNS name, or an SSH server that can reach the Mac. MacLatch labels every route so you know what is encrypted.
- My Mac doesn't appear under Nearby.
- Check that both devices are on the same network, that Screen Sharing is on, and that MacLatch has Local Network access in the iPhone's Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network.
- The SSH server rejects the sign-in.
- If you sign in with the device key, add the public key MacLatch shows you to the account's
~/.ssh/authorized_keyson the SSH server. If you use a password, check the user name and that the server allows password sign-in. - MacLatch warns that the host key changed.
- MacLatch pins the SSH server's key the first time you trust it and refuses a different one. If you replaced or reinstalled the server, use Forget Saved Host Key on that connection and trust the new key. If you didn't, don't connect: something may be intercepting the route.
Using it
- How do I type a password into the Mac?
- Choose Keyboard in the session action strip to bring up the keyboard, or use Send Text to type a phrase and send it at once. The keyboard strip adds esc, tab, control, option and command.
- How do I click small buttons?
- Pinch to zoom in on the Mac's screen, then tap. On iPad, a trackpad or mouse works as a real pointer.
Trial and purchase
- When does the trial start?
- When you tap Start 7-day free trial in the app, not when you download it. It lasts seven days and includes everything.
- What happens after seven days?
- Starting a new session needs the one-time unlock. Your saved connections and settings stay. There is no subscription and no automatic charge.
- I bought the unlock on another device.
- Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore purchase or trial in the unlock sheet.
- How do I get a refund?
- Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
